The Lake - Lake Granby

While we've definitely mentioned the lake in a few posts, the lake is central enough to our cabin that it deserves its own post.

Our cabin is not directly on the lake, it is about 500 ft down a flat gravel road. The road is very quiet - you might meet one of our neighbors or see one of the neighborhood pups. The last 50 ft or so are a foot path that is not wide enough for a car.

Our beach is actually owned by Arapaho national forest, but very few people know it is there and with the deeded walk way, it is normally either just our family or we might see another neighbor.

The cove is very shallow - you can bring a jet ski or other smaller boat in to tie off (the marina is about a mile away). Unfortunately we do not have a dock. What we love about the shallow cove is that is fun to swim and not as cold as the rest of the lake, additionally it is quite protected and doesn't get as wavy as the larger parts of the lake.

Earlier in the summer we have a pretty thin beach while the lake is full, as the water is drawn down by the dam throughout the summer, the water will recede and leave a nice wide sandy beach. Towards the end of summer there will be a bit of mud along the waters edge, and you can walk out to the little island that is in the center of the cove.

We do leave our hard sided paddleboards in the garage shed for guest use, they are one of our families favorite ways to spend a day at the lake. Our pup even enjoys time on the paddleboards.
