The neighborhood
One of the things we love about our cabin is we have neighbors that know the area. Our road has a mix of year rounders and seasonal part timers (like us).
We are definitely not isolated, but yet our lot is large enough and our road is quiet enough that you can go days with only seeing a couple cars go by on our road. We are still working on completing the fence that will provide some buffering from highway 34. With the windows open or in the back yard and you will hear some highway sounds - inside with windows closed, you will forget it is there. In the winter we appreciate the short drive to a major road (less than 250 ft to highway 34)
We love the glimpses of mountains that we get to the north from each of the bedrooms.
We can't see Lake Granby from our house - but if you stand at the corner of the drive, you will catch glimpses through the trees.
One of my favorite walks is to the east and down to the lake, you walk by a few of our neighbors and then when you turn to the right you see the lake through the pines and aspens - it really does take my breath away every time I walk down. the view from the beach is nothing less than spectacular - mountains in the distance. (the total walk to the lake is about 500 ft from our cabin to the beach)
Arapaho national forest owns the beach (which is smaller in the spring and grows as they drain the lake water down through the summer) by mid to late summer you can walk along the beach almost all the way to indian peaks marina. My kids love to explore the woods along the beach to see what they can find.
